Sage Picking

This past week staff and students from Niji Mahkwa went out to Birds Hill to pick sage. This is a yearly outing where each class picks enough sage to last them throughout the year. The culture team goes out before and ensures the sage is ready for us to pick. Mr. Paynter explains how and why we pick the sage we do. We put the sage in small bundles and tie it with yarn so it can hang to dry in our classrooms throughout the year. We then enjoy a lunch and playtime together before heading back to the school. It is a great day for everyone. We would all like to thank the Culture Team for sharing their knowledge and teachings with us and for all their hard work.
